Tesla VPP sale

Planum advised Tesla on the sale of its SA Virtual Power Plant (VPP), which supports the South Australian grid and provides low-cost energy. The VPP was sold to AGL following a competitive market process. At time of sale, the VPP operated the largest distributed power plant and retail model in the country with systems installed across 7,000 sites.  

AGL plans to integrate these assets into its broader VPP network and offers benefits to participating customers, including its South Australian Community Battery platform. Tesla remains committed to the project through long-term operations, maintenance, auto bidder and supply agreements.

Planum advised Tesla on the initial establishment of the SA VPP, which was Australia’s first large-scale commercial VPP.  This included commercial and project advice, as well as leading the project financing and funding.
